Ben Herzberg is a board-certified medical oncologist at Columbia University Irving Medical Center specializing in thoracic malignancies, including non-small cell and small cell lung cancer, mesothelioma, and thymoma. Dr. Herzberg’s work sits at the intersection of clinical oncology, functional genomics, and drug discovery. As principal investigator and an international steering-committee member for more than 30 clinical trials, he has helped advance therapies directed at RAS, MTAP, SMARCA4, and other synthetic tumor vulnerabilities. His laboratory translates observations from the clinic into strategies for identifying actionable cancer dependencies, deploying targeted therapies more effectively, and reducing treatment-related toxicity. Dr. Herzberg received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University, his MD through the Harvard Medical School–MIT Health Sciences and Technology program, and an MSc in the History of Science and Medicine from Imperial College London. He completed internal medicine training at Massachusetts General Hospital and medical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he served as Chief Fellow.
